I love the hunt. There’s nothing like finding a one-of-a kind piece and figuring out ways to bring out its best or how to mix it with the other things you love at home. Each of the pieces I found this week just gave me a good feeling. I can’t explain it, but maybe you’ll feel it too.
I get that it’s not for everyone, but there is something sort of darling about small needlepoint going into the right project. This one will make a cute kitchen accessory.
The woodworker’s tote was an absolute steal at a local thrift store, and I honestly couldn’t believe I found it where I did. It just proves the adage leave no stone un-turned. This large, solid wood piece should clean up gorgeously. I love it for blanket or magazine storage next to your favorite sofa or chair.
My plan for these two seed bags is to get them nicely framed to hang in the dining room of the new build project, likely in the dining room. The property was the site of at least one homestead in the 1800s, and the goal is to build something new but in the spirit of what has already been there. Despite using mostly new materials, we are going for an old-timey comfort in a modern context. Watch this space for more on that project as it progresses!
This watercolor print of the Missouri state capitol building set in a vintage frame was bought for another project, but might just find itself stuck in my own house. There’s something about these kinds of framed pieces that I love. I could probably buy an art piece in every store I walk into. Alas, I can only hang so many myself and only save so many for future projects.
It’s an eclectic mix to be sure. Some of these things I bought for a very exciting upcoming new build project, some of them I bought for revival and resale, and one or two I bought because I just couldn’t bare to leave them (don’t tell my husband).
The tables in this photo are both great finds. One is solid wood with a
beautiful walnut veneer and no chips. I got it for $10. With some TLC, I know
it will sing like new soon. The other is a brass metal base with a sewn leather
top. Jury is still out on whether I’ll hang on to this one for a project, or share
it with those interested on Facebook Marketplace. TBD.
And last, but my god, not least… this adorable little bookshelf lamp was only $3.00 and it works. Couldn’t you just die? I almost did.
